About The Artist . . .

Welcome!  :)  I'm Rawn Clark and while I'm best known as a writer and creator of ABardonCompanion.com, I've been an artist for far longer than I've been writing.  At birth (April 3, 1958), the fates blessed me with ten very nimble fingers and an equally fertile imagination so I've spent my whole life exercising both.  :)  The only formal schooling in art that I've received was high school ceramics (which I adored) -- everything else I've taught myself through hands-on, trial-and-error exploration.

Although over the years I've explored many different media (clay, gourds, beads, leather, fabric and colored pencils, to name several), the primary artistic medium that I work with currently is cardboard.  As far as I know, I am the only artist working in this medium, in this way.  :)

I began working with cardboard in 1995 because it was a free and very versatile medium for creating structural pieces.  At first, my supply of cardboard was exclusively the product of scrounging local grocery stores for discarded boxes, but often the pickings were either too slim or too damaged to sustain my needs, so a few years ago I began using pristine, purchased cardboard shipping boxes.  :)

Until the creation of this website, I had never offered my cardboard constructions for sale and have instead, made them only as gifts or for my own use.  My cardboard pieces are almost always utilitarian in nature and are often intended as magical furnishings (i.e., as ritual tools themselves or for storage of ritual tools).  I have created several functioning ritual tools over the years, some that I use personally and some that I created as gifts.  I am, above all else I suppose, an Hermetic magician and this fact weaves its way into all I do, especially my art work.  :)

I live and work in a small cabin situated on 300 acres (the home of my dreams), a few miles from the small town of Cazadero in rural Sonoma County, California.

Well, I've probably blathered on for too long already.  ;-)  I hope you enjoy your visit to RawnMade.com and come back frequently!  :)

My best to you,
   :) Rawn Clark
